    Default 7D2 vs 1DX1

    Hi guys,

I was wondering if you could go for one either a 7d2 or a 1dx1 for wildlife and BIF which one would you go with. I know there is a big price difference but is it worth the big price difference?

Would like to know your thoughts.

The 7Dmk2 has better AF, the 1Dx mk1 has a higher fps rate and handles low light better. Ultimately for me though it depends on the glass I'm pairing it with.

The glass it would sit on is between the 500mm f4ISmk1 and possibly the 100-400mk2 too.

tough call. firstly make sure any 1Dx you are looking at has a happy mirror box and not too much issue with oil splatter.
Generally speaking: if you are looking for reach, small birds etc, I would be swayed towards 7D2. pixel density and 'reach' will be so far better.
However, in low light, the 1Dx laughs at 7D2. Battery life is far better, body is incredibly robust, and weather proof and focus is fantastic.
image quality is superb. Very little to fault in a 1Dx.

With the 500mm f4, definitely the 1Dx, it has 20 high precision AF points to take advantage of as opposed to the 7d2's complete lack thereof. With multiple focus points active, the 7D2 will (theoretically) track better though.
The one big advantage of the 1Dx is its ability to meter on the chosen AF point which the 7D2 cannot do.

The IQ of the 1Dx is far superior to that of the 7D2 so if you can afford it and its in good condition, get the 1Dx IMO.

The centre AF point on the 7Dmk2 is a high precision AF point. That said it's got 65 standard cross type points compared to the 1Dx's 21, and they extend closer to the edges of the frame.

This is a good comparison read for anyone interested: https://www.the-digital-picture.com/...omparison.aspx
